How do I find an opportunity?
Choose Search Jobs from Careers. Search by job title, skill or keyword, then filter by employee type and location. Published positions will appear once the recruiting connection is deployed and configured. Contact Sigma with questions while that connection is pending.
What does a delivery driver’s day involve?
A delivery driver’s day typically begins at the station with preparation for the route. This may include checking the vehicle, reviewing delivery information, and organizing packages so they can be located and handled efficiently throughout the day.
Once on the road, drivers travel through their assigned service area, making deliveries to homes and businesses. At each stop, they locate the correct package, confirm the delivery address, follow delivery instructions, and record the delivery using a handheld device. The work involves frequent stops, entering and exiting the vehicle, walking, and lifting and carrying packages of different sizes and weights.
Drivers may also complete scheduled pickups from customers or businesses. Throughout the route, they manage their time, adapt to traffic and weather conditions, communicate with their team, and interact professionally with customers. Safe driving and careful package handling are central to the daily routine.
At the end of the day, drivers typically return to the station, follow procedures for any packages that could not be delivered, return equipment, and report vehicle issues or route concerns.
The exact routine varies by location, route, and assignment. Review the responsibilities for the specific Sigma Continental position and ask the hiring team about a typical day, including start times, package handling requirements, pickups, and end-of-day procedures.
What are the requirements, pay and benefits?
Requirements and pay vary by position and employee type. Review the published job description for the role’s qualifications, responsibilities and physical demands, and speak with Sigma’s hiring team about compensation, scheduling and onboarding requirements.
Sigma offers eligible employees UPMC health benefits after 60 days, vacation time and retirement plans with employer matching. The hiring team can explain eligibility, coverage options, vacation policies and retirement matching details for your position so you understand the full benefits package before accepting an offer.
Do I need previous delivery experience?
Previous driving or delivery experience is preferred, but it is not required. We welcome applicants who are ready to learn, take safety seriously and provide dependable service. Candidates must have a safe driving record with no major violations.
Sigma Continental provides a formal driver training program, including training for drivers who are new to delivery work. The program helps new drivers prepare for their responsibilities and understand safe delivery practices before taking on the role.
Review the requirements for the specific opening and speak with our hiring team about driving record qualifications, the training process and what to expect as you get started.
Will I use a company vehicle or my own?
Full-time delivery drivers use Sigma Continental-owned vehicles to make final-mile deliveries for FedEx, bringing packages to homes and businesses along their assigned routes. You do not need to provide a personal vehicle for deliveries in these roles.
Drivers in the Alternative Vehicle Program (AVP) use their own personal vehicles to deliver packages. If you are interested in AVP, ask the hiring team about vehicle requirements, insurance, package pickup arrangements and how vehicle-related expenses are handled.
Review the specific job description and confirm the vehicle arrangements with Sigma’s hiring team so you know what to expect before applying.
Personal-vehicle delivery
What is the Alternative Vehicle Program?
The Alternative Vehicle Program (AVP) is an opportunity to explore local final-mile package delivery using your personal vehicle. Participants help deliver packages to homes and businesses within a designated service area.
A typical day may involve arriving at an assigned location, receiving and organizing packages, and completing deliveries using the required delivery tools and instructions. The work includes local driving, frequent stops, getting in and out of your vehicle, and carrying packages to delivery locations. Safe driving, careful package handling, and professional customer interactions are part of the role.
Before you begin, the Sigma Continental team will confirm current availability and whether your vehicle meets the requirements for the opportunity. They will also explain route expectations, scheduling, package handling requirements, compensation, and any applicable insurance, documentation, or equipment requirements.
Availability and program terms may vary by location. Contact the Sigma Continental hiring team for current details and review the specific opportunity to understand what participation involves.
Does AVP require an app download?
This website does not offer a Sigma driver app. Work with the team for the program’s actual onboarding and delivery instructions.
Can I choose my AVP schedule?
Share your preferred schedule and availability with Sigma during the recruiting process. Route availability, pickup arrangements and scheduling expectations need to be discussed for the specific opportunity so you can understand how it may fit your needs.
A listing on this website does not guarantee a particular schedule, route or availability. Confirm those details directly with Sigma before making plans or commitments based on an opportunity.
