Final-mile pickup & delivery

The last part of the journey.
The first thing people see.

From the local station to a front door or business, Sigma Continental brings care to the part of delivery that customers experience firsthand.

What is final mile?

A long journey.
A local connection.

Final mile is the local stage of a package’s journey—the movement from a delivery station to the person or business receiving it.

It describes the final stage of service, rather than a fixed distance. A route may connect neighborhoods, storefronts, offices, and other customer locations. Pickup services bring packages from local customers back into the delivery network.

As an independent contracted service provider supporting the FedEx Ground network, Sigma Continental connects that wider network with the communities we serve.

How final mile works

Prepared at the station.
Delivered with care.

Each step supports the next. Drivers, dispatch, and operations coordinate the work from route preparation through daily closeout.

  1. Prepare

Review the assignment, check the vehicle, and organize packages for the route. Clarify instructions before departure.

  2. Drive & deliver

Travel through the service area, confirm each address, and follow the delivery instructions for homes and businesses.

  3. Pick up & communicate

Complete assigned pickups, record delivery outcomes, and contact the team when an address, access point, or package needs attention.

  4. Return & follow through

Return to the station, follow procedures for undelivered packages, and report vehicle concerns or unresolved route issues.
